THE TASMANIAN TROUT EXPO
HELD ON AUGUST 30 & 31 2008
The
Tasmanian Trout Expo is an event for all fisherpersons from the very
young to the older generation and the professional. It is an event to
promote our beautiful state, Tasmania, as the Fishing Capital of
Australia, and Cressy as the Gateway to Trout Fishing Paradise. The expo also
provides information on where and how to go Trout Fishing in Tasmania.
The Expo will be held in the grounds of Cressy District High School
and will showcase products needed to thoroughly enjoy the
experience of trout fishing. IN THE STADIUM The
official opening of the 2008 Tasmanian Trout Expo by Dick Adams MP,
Federal Member for Lyons, will be at 12 noon Saturday August 30.
There will be fashion parades presented by the students of
Cressy District High School and sponsored by Allgoods and Bee Bright. Tasmanian
Fishing and Boating News will be running Clinics on Trolling, soft
plastics and using your fish finder, as well as fly tying
demonstrations. Trade stalls selling fishing gear, soft plastics and other fishing related items DVD video
screenings on all types of fishing and book stalls to browse for that
hard-to-find fishing book.
Outside on the oval will be more exhibitors with products needed to
go on that fishing trip, from fishing tackle and camping needs to all-terrain bikes,
boats, kayaks, outboard motors and more.
Also on the oval on Saturday there will be a
DRY FLY CASTING COMPETITION
hosted by Natone Fly Fishery.

A food court will also be provided to help keep everybody happy and well fed.
At nearby BRUMBYS CREEK there will be a Fishing Competition with a major draw of $10,000 for the TAGGED TROUT. There will also be FOUR TAGGED RAINBOW TROUT and other prizes totalling in excess of $5,000.
At Cressy District High School there will also be an Arts Competition in the Big Fish
Arcade with participation from across the community.

See the Arts comp
Page for more info.
The Taste of Trout has become a popular
event and this year we hope to tempt the palette once again with some saucy
offerings. The Longford Fishing Club will once again
contribute strongly with their delicious smoked trout.
At the Cressy Swimming Pool on Sunday 31st between 10am and 3pm the
TASMANIAN FLY
CASTING CHAMPIONSHIPS
will be conducted by Peter Hayes.
A free bus serice is also
being provided to take patrons from venue to venue.
Come and enjoy the country
hospitality of the Expo and also try your luck at the Fishing
Competition.
Camping is available during the Expo at the Cressy
Recreational Grounds.
***There is NO CAMPING at Brumbys Creek and the gates will be shut on
Friday and Saturday nights.***
This
has become necessary because of Anglers taking fish before the event, that have been
especially released for the Expo, thus depriving those
that have paid their entry fee to the competition of those catches. The gates at Brumbys Creek will be opened at 7am each day of the Expo
and the competition starts at 8am
